Takisha’s Bio:
For as long as Takisha could remember, she wanted to be a nurse. She was able to take some medical classes in high school that only made her love for nursing grow. Takisha went on to attend Daymar Institute and graduated in 2010 with a Medical Assistant Certification. She has been working in pediatrics for the past five years and loves it.

Takisha had hoped to one day become a homeowner but honestly was not sure when or how. She first heard about Habitat for Humanity from one of her co-workers who is also a Habitat homeowner. After hearing great things about the program, Takisha decided to apply. “When I found out I had been accepted, I was so happy,” she said with her beautiful smile. “My son and I are going to have something we can call our own.”
From day one, Takisha has been very driven and focused. She has been committed to doing her very best throughout the entire program. Her favorite aspects of the Habitat program have been meeting new people, working alongside the fellow future homeowners on builds, and the Homebuyer Education Class. “I have learned so much about buying a home and what it means to be a homeowner.”
Takisha and her son are looking forward to having their own home and the stability it will bring. Her son is excited about having a back yard to play in, a place to ride his bike, and just a space of his own. Takisha is excited to have a haven where they are grounded and she can work towards her next goal of becoming a Registered Nurse.
Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity is blessed to be building 7 houses in 2017 as well as several Neighborhood Revitalization and Home Repair projects. We build in Murfreesboro, Smyrna and LaVergne Tennessee.
