As professionals in the building industry know, having a safe, affordable home is important to every family. It’s a place not only for shelter, but for everyday moments and special celebrations. A home is the foundation from which lives are built, and we believe everyone deserves a decent place to live.

The Home Builders Blitz joins Habitat and professional homebuilders allowing us to exponentially increase our work and maximize our efforts. When homebuilders provide labor, funding and materials, it allows us to serve even more homeowners.

In 2016, we were able to work across 31 states to construct or repair 250 homes with the help of professional homebuilders. That brings us to a total of more than 1,700 homes since this program began in 2006.

Home Builders Blitz History

Since 2006, hundreds of professional homebuilders and thousands of subcontractors, suppliers and other trade professionals have partnered with Habitat for Humanity affiliates to build more than 1,500 homes across our country. The benefits of this effort are incredible, not only for the Habitat families who have the opportunity for a new, safe and healthy home, but as a real and meaningful way for homebuilding professionals to partner with Habitat for Humanity, network with area contractors and suppliers,  and give back to their communities!

“One of the goals of this event is to involve more people in the work of Habitat and to get them excited about continuing to support affordable housing efforts,” states Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. “It just makes sense to involve construction professionals who have a unique perspective on the importance of a strong, well-developed community.”

Habitat Family Bio:

A star athlete with a zest for life, Charles was about to graduate high school with dreams of getting a degree in communications and working in sports radio. Tragically, just four and a half hours after receiving his diploma, Charles was in a severe motorcycle accident that required him to be life flighted to Vanderbilt.  From that moment on, everything changed for Charles and his dreams.

Suffering from a traumatic brain injury resulting in partial paralysis to the right side of his body, Charles never thought he could own his own home.. until he found out about the Habitat Homeowner program!
