Recover or Paint Upholstered Furniture
Many furniture cushions are easy to upscale with new fabric!
OR you can easily PAINT upholstered furniture using 2 parts latex paint + 1 part fabric softener!
- It’s a good idea to clean the existing fabric first or use sandpaper to lightly prep the fabric so the paint adheres well.
- Paint with water
- Piant a light coat of your new base paint. Ledt it dry. Sandpaper again if the fabric is
- Paint additional coats as needed and designs.
Decoupage Furniture

Give your furniture a complete new look by decoupaging great designs on them!
- Paint your furniture piece as desired.
- Find paper designs: magazines, wallpaper, scrap book paper, books, maps, etc.
- Decide on your paper pattern and cut out as needed.
- Apply a thin coat of Mod Podge to the furniture surface area.
- Place the paper on top and smooth out. Allow to dry.
- Once the Mod Podge has dried, apply a thin coat to the top of the paper and allow to dry.
- Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to the entire surface to give a uniform look.
> For different types of looks, choose Mod Podge in matte, glossy or even glitter!
>> Children can have some fun decoupaging too! Use comic books, illustrations, pages from books, etc.
>> Maps are always nice to decoupage – maybe from a trip with other items like stickers.
>> Scrapbook packages often have a variety of paper items to decorate with.
>> Wicker furniture and baskets can easily be decoupaged using napkins! Cut out the designs or use the complete design. Apply Mod Podge. Use a stiff brush to press the paper into the wicker so you still have the wicker texture.
