Future Homeowner: Alicia
Alicia was born and raised here in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Her childhood was filled with going to yard sales with their granny on the weekends and special trips in the summer to Disneyworld. Alicia also loved dancing and was a member of the Oakland Half Timers dance team when she was in high school.
After graduation, Alicia moved into an apartment, entered the workforce, she had a couple of challenging years. Once on her feet again, Alicia began working towards a more stable life for herself and her girls and her journey to homeownership began.
Her aunt suggested the Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity Homeownership program. She applied a couple of times and was not ready and then denied. Determined to become a homeowner and provide both stability and security for her girls, she spent the next couple of years working on her finances. When applications opened in 2024, she was ready.
Alicia is thoroughly enjoying the program and meeting her future neighbors. She has learned a lot of valuable information during the homeowner education classes and is so excited for what is yet to come. “I have been dreaming about making my home selections,” she said smiling. “It will be so special to be in a home that my girls and I build together.”
The family is deeply humbled by the generosity of those that are helping make their dream come true. They are beyond thankful to the RCHFH sponsors, volunteers, and staff for this act of kindness. It will provide a foundation that will benefit her family for many generations.
