Andrea’s Bio:

Perseverance Pays Off

Andrea has always believed that patience and perseverance will pay off in her life.  She is a great role model for her children and exemplifies what is means to be hard-working, loyal, and kind.

She and her three children are life-long residences of Smyrna and absolutely love the Middle Tennessee area. Andrea has also been a long-time employee at The Gingerbread House for sixteen years where her dedication to her job recently resulted in a promotion to the director.

While the family has always lived in apartments, Andrea often wondered what it would be like to be a homeowner. She was not sure where to start until a former co-worker shared her Habitat journey experience. Unfortunately, the first time Andrea applied for the Habitat Program she was not accepted. Instead of quitting, she took the “Get Ready” budgeting classes to help her improve her credit. The next year, Andrea found out that all of her determination and hard work paid off when she received the news that she had been accepted into the Habitat program.

Andrea has applied her strong work ethic to the Habitat program.  While in the program, Andrea really enjoyed Habitat’s 30-week “Future Homeowner Class”.  She admits that the classes have been extremely helpful in maintaining her budget and even learning how to cook healthy meals.

The family is very excited about their new home.  They are looking forward to having a safe haven to call home, a space to play and entertain, and to making their house a home. Andrea would like to thank the Hooper Family, Smyrna Rotary, Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati, Pinnacle Bank, THDA, United Way, and everyone else who made her build possible through donation of their time, talents, and treasures.

Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity is blessed to build 8-10 houses a year as well as several Neighborhood Revitalization and Home Repair projects. We build in Murfreesboro, Smyrna and LaVergne Tennessee.
