Thank you to Country Music artists Southern Halo and Rick Monroe for participating in this build! It was great to have them on the site – and Rick has had construction experience so really helped. Rick’s wife also had fun.

And the Southern Halo ladies were thrilled to learn about house construction and even how to use a nail gun!

And thank you to Martha Moore / So Much Moore Media for continued support!

Rick and Southern Halo also participated in our MTSU Panel Build!

 Deborah’s Bio:

Ms. Deborah didn’t think homeownership was ever a possibility for her. However, with the support from Habitat for Humanity and their partners, and the opportunity to go through the Homeowner Program, her dream is coming true.

Upon her high school graduation, Deborah entered the workforce in the medical field: as a Certified Nursing Technician at MTMC, for the Middle Tennessee Mental Health Department, on the Tennessee Rehab Base as a Nursing Aide, and as a CNT for Home Health in Murfreesboro.

Traveling home from a family reunion in 2010, Deborah was in a serious car wreck. She broke her back, had to have surgery, and was no longer able to do the healthcare jobs she loved. After living with family in Memphis, she moved back to Murfreesboro in 2011, and has been living in the same apartment ever since and working as a part time substitute teacher.

Deborah tried several times to become a homeowner, but she could never qualify for a conventional mortgage. She applied to the Habitat program and was denied the first time, but that did not stop her! She spent the next year attending the Habitat financial classes and taking care of  some personal responsibilities and applied again in 2017. This time she was accepted and has been full of joy ever since.
